FIBRE OPTIC CABLING CERTIFICATION
Fibre Optic Cabling often forms the core of a network being the predominant media type for mission-critical links. As network speeds and bandwidth demands increase, distance and loss limitations have decreased, making Fibre Optic Cabling Certification more important than ever.
Certification of new cabling as per ISO/IEC standards is necessary to ensure that the link will run the intended application. Complete Fibre Cabling Certification includes two parts; Tier one or Basic Test Regimen and Tier one or Extended Test Regimen.
Tier one certification is performed with a power meter, light source or optical loss test set (OLTS) to measure the loss of the link and compare it to the limits in the standard. Talkwire currently deploy a pair of Fluke Certi Fibre Pro Loss Length Power Metre Modules for Tier one certification, more specific details of which are available within the datasheet and calibration certificates are available on request.
Tier two certification and troubleshooting can be performed with an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR). An OTDR is used to characterise a fibre and can detect, locate and measure events at any point in the fibre link. It operates much like a one-dimensional radar system allowing the characterisation of the fibre from one end to the other. Our fully trained engineers use a Fluke Opti Fibre Pro Quad OTDR module for Tier 2 certification, further details about this module can be seen within the data sheet.
Manage Cable Certification Jobs with Cloud
Using the world leading manufacturer and distributor of electronic test tools and software Fluke Corporation, Talkwire can also test the efficiency of fibre cable installations on your site locations. This assures you that everything is running smoothly with evidential proof of results that can be uploaded, viewed and exported through the Link Ware Live Portal.
In an ideal world, all data cabling should be tested to ensure everything is working how it should be. However, many providers don’t own the equipment due to the cost but Talkwire have invested in this equipment to ensure we are servicing our customers to the highest standard.
Using Link Ware Live, Talkwire can upload customer’s test results and create a portal login for them to view carried out test results and print certification for warranty purposes. Results that are uploaded are automatically assigned to the correct job and tracks the user and tester locations to remind you when its time for calibration.
